Bought Thistle some new clothes from Luts. So of course I had to take pics of them.  Piper insisted on helping to model one of the outfits. I think she likes her brother's clothes better than her own. heh heh

Also bought him the brown boots he's wearing in the first pic. And you can't see them,m but I also bought him two pairs of canvas sneakers (Piper is wearing the pinkish-red pair, and he's wearing the off-white pair). Those shoes are so big, though! They're definitely big enough to fit my Delf girls. A lot of the Kid Delf boots (and these shoes) are actually big enough to fit my Delf girls. So they often share. lol

And, I have to say, I think my photography skills are improving. My pics now are a LOT better than they were when I started out in this hobby. At least, they're clear, not fuzzy, and not weirdly colored. Still need to work on stuff like posing and such, but I'm getting there. One of these days I WILL get me one of those kickass digital cameras with interchangeable lenses. Used to have an old one in high school, back before digital was invented, or at least mainstream. lol  LOVED that thing, even though it was probably older than I am (it was my uncle's from when he was in college). I carted it to school with me all the time and took pics of my friends and stuff. I regret ever getting rid of it.

Well, just one picture. My elf twins, Piper and Thistle. I love how this picture turned out (although Thistle is in serious need of a wardrobe change. Punky doesn't suit his personality at all)!  <3

Been plugging away at both Shadow King and WISH. Chapter seventeen of Shadow King is finished and just got chapter six of WISH finished and posted, as well.  Also made a couple of new "covers".

This cover for WISH is only a quick temporary mockup until I get off my lazy butt and take more pics of Puck. He's almost complete now. I even found him his "pendant"!  It's a silver celtic Tree of Life charm which was pretty much exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, and it's meant for a charm bracelet so it's a perfect dolly-size pendant.  I scoured the net looking for a tree charm. It's amazing how many palm tree and Christmas tree charms there are, but to find a tree like an oak or elm, or something else "fairyish" is surprisingly difficult.  But yeah, there's actually a Celtic symbol called the Tree of Life, which I never knew  before, and it was pretty much exactly what I had in mind when I envisioned Puck's vessel.  Who knew?

I even managed to snag one of Fairyland's event scar arms for him, which I think makes an excellent physical manifestation of his curse. Now all I have to do is paint those microscopic spell runes and the scars, and string the arm onto his body without breaking anything (like a finger; either his or mine). Never tried stringing a mini before, or painting/blushing any part of one's body.  This ought to be interesting.  ^^;

In the meantime, I've been having LOTS of ideas for wish, so must go off and write some of them down before I forget them.  I'm posting this story on Textnovel.com, by the way, and it's entered into this year's contest. Not gaining a lot of popularity thus far, though, but I hope that will change soon once I start actually UPDATING the thing.  ^^;

Not since October, anyhoo.  Trouble with two accounts; it's hard to keep track of updates.  ^^;

Anyhoo, didn't make Nano count. Only 20,000 words or so, about what I expected, but at least I've got story notes and plot and all so when I finally finish Shadow King, I won't be lost on Wish (or what used to be called Djinn before I changed the title).

And SPEAKING of the Shadow King, after many months of searching, B&G Doll did me a huge favor by putting out their new Old World line which includes a truly awesome gray elf. He is my Shadow King.  See?

I am SO pleased with him. His expression is perfect, and Buff did a great job with his faceup. It's just the right amount of serious and if-you-mess-with-me-I-keel-you.

Now all I need to do is finish the damned novel!  >__<

And clocking in at just under 2,000 words (1990 to be exact).  Not bad for a single day's work! Would love to write more, but alas, sleepytime calls. Working a third shift job sucks. lol

Still, here's the first (unedited) chapter of Djinn.

DJINN - Chapter One )

So, yeah, obviously needs some work (chapter ending is a bit abrupt) but that's what the end of the month is for. heh heh

Methinks I'll be working on a cover, soon. I think Puck (my minifee Shiwoo elf) will be the star of the cover, as he is my main inspiration and the star of the story. And because I always use a good excuse to show off my lovely dolls.  ^_____________^

I'm going for it!  Dunno if I'll make it, but I'm needing a break from Shadow King, so a new novel might be the thing to do.  And my muse won't stop smacking me upside the head with this idea, so best to give her her way.  >__<

Title: DJINN

Synopsis (work in progress): Be careful what you wish for. Truer words were never spoken, as Annabelle Lee Bowen discovers when she comes upon an unusual pendant with an even more unusual secret hiding inside. It seems all of her dreams are about to come true. But how long will it take before they start crumbling into nightmares?

I'll probably start posting this on inkpop and authonomy once I've got over 10,000 words down.  So far I'm just over 500. *facepalm*  Well, to be fair, I only started writing this morning.  ^^;

Wish me luck!

Shadow King has recently made the semi-finals of Textnovel.com's annual writing contest.  I'm in the running for finals now, and in order to make this story the best possible (by the end of the month), I've made some major changes to all written chapters.

- The biggest change is I've changed the past-tense writing to present-tense. I just feel it gives the story a little extra something, but it's challening to write as I rarely ever attempt to write in this tense.

- I've changed the Shadow King's appearance a bit.  He looks basically the same, only a bit more ... shadowy.  You'll see what I mean.

- Chapter twelve has some major rewriting of the last scene. It didn't quite fit with where I was trying to go, so I changed it.

- Just general editing overall, fixing typos I'd missed and such.

If you really like the story, please head to Textnovel and view/vote for it. The more votes I get, the better chance I have of making it to finals.

The grand prize, by the way, is $1000 cash and possible publication. Considering last year's winner was recently published (13 to Life: A Werewolf's Tale), I'd say there's a very good possibility of it.

Thanks for looking!

Btw, textnovel is a site specifically designed for cell phone novels.  Which are basically novels that are often written on and even more often viewed on cell phones. Therefore, to make it easier to read on small devices like a phone or iPod, my chapters are all broken up into chunks, usually two or three paragraphs at a time.  This is the "next big thing" originating from Japan, and is gaining increasing popularity in the US.
